Horizonts

Author: Zbigniew Furgaliński

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The horizon is a boundary, a physical and metaphysical concept at the same time. Related to the law of universal gravitation, it is also a longing for a better, different world. It sets our point of view, determines our place on Earth, determines our being here and now – we carry it within us. My paintings, which seem to be abstract, are in fact an extract of the landscape, brought to the elemental sign, which is the horizontal line. The essence of my painting is intense harmony and pulsating light penetrating from the image. The apparent monotony of images is based on the pattern of horizontal, rhythmic lines and results from a contemplative feeling and experiencing reality. I try to build paintings with discipline and logic, but they are the fruit of emotions and sensational reception of visual phenomena.
