[…] The subject of the space of the elements refers in my understanding not only to nature, but also to the processes of inner life. The very act of creation is an element for me. The language of painting is mainly the world of colours, which has always been a fascinating, magical area for me, generated from layers of emotion and individual experience, where chance is linked to empiricism, and where ethereality and delicacy are linked to the rough texture of matter. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jolanta Knapek, PhD – graduate of Art Education at the Art Institute of the Faculty of Art at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn, specialisation – easel painting.
In 2019, she completed her doctoral thesis in the field of fine arts in the discipline of fine arts under the supervision of Professor Elżbieta Kuraj.
Between 2009 and 2018, Jolanta Knapek participated in numerous group exhibitions of painting and artistic enamel in Poland, the Czech Republic and France.
Jolanta Knapek’s creative explorations revolve around the exploration of the space of the elements, revealing the richness, and complexity of the subject matter. The essence of the elements, their changeability, unbridled power and gentle beauty, their dual nature, are invariably what constitutes the source of inspiration, with which the author enters into dialogue and analyses.
