Weronika Turlej – an artist from Mokrzyska in the Małopolska region, where she has lived and run her own sculpture studio for many years, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Silesia in Katowice from Professor Jerzy Fober’s Sculpture Studio. Art schools sealed her creative path and helped her to take the right direction, while working in artistic fields toughened her creative spirit. As a graduate of the State Secondary School of Fine Arts, she learnt the secrets of working in monument conservation on many magnificent secular and sacred buildings, which instilled in her a love of decorating her own works with gold and combining various sculpting and painting techniques with one another. She is the author of many paintings that are in the collections of private recipients at home and abroad, she designed and created the King Kazimierz the Great Monument in Ust Solny and worked for many years with the largest attraction parks in Poland to create large-scale figures. She develops her own sculpting techniques, creates a variety of mixtures from aggregates and epoxy resins, and bends the rules of combining materials to their limits. “I create with materials that challenge me. I like the sculptures to fight with me, to surprise me, to toughen my endurance.” Her works are a combination of earthy raw and rough surfaces with the brilliance and colour of precious metals and light, and cosmogonic motifs are intertwined with abstraction and realism.
The exhibition will be on display until 13 October 2024.
